Healing Our Children (HOC) is an early intervention and prevention program operating in the Top End of the Northern Territory.
The Relationships Australia – NT program, works with and supports men and women who have children in their care who may be at risk of abuse and are currently or have previously lived with violence in their home.
This program is for First Nations men and women and delivered by First Nations facilitators.
HOC was developed because Tiwi and North-East Arnhem Land Elders were concerned about their grandchildren being exposed to violence, drug and alcohol misuse, child abuse and neglect and other traumatic events.
The program involves group education workshops focusing on the impact of domestic and family violence on children’s brain development from pregnancy until they become adults, in a safe, non-blaming environment.
Our team use storytelling, imagery and art to explore the effects of violence and other trauma on children’s lives.
Every child deserves to feel safe.
This program is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).
