The Find and Connect Support Service provides help and trauma-informed support to Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants.
Between the 1920s – 1980s more than 500,000 children who grew up in orphanages, foster care, children’s homes or other institutions in Australia are sometimes known as Forgotten Australians or Former Child Migrants.
Over 7,000 of these children were deported, mostly from the United Kingdom and Malta and placed in institutions, often without their family’s knowledge or consent, resulting in significant grief and loss.
The Find and Connect Support Service at Relationships Australia – NT provides a safe space for Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants to explore their past.
Our team can meet with you in person, by phone or online to help you understand your history, search for records and where possible, provide avenues for reconnection with family. We also offer counselling and community connections to understand and manage grief, loss and trauma.
